Hi! I am Shiho Karino, an art director and designer based in New York,
originally from Tokyo.
With a focus on branding, I create effective outcomes across various fields, including packaging design, product design, and UI/UX design. I am especially skilled in meticulous handcrafting and creating refined, finished prototypes.
Balancing structural understanding with visual beauty, I explore new sensitivities and ways of perceiving the world by bringing together different cultural perspectives.
I am Shiho Karino, an art director and designer based in New York, originally from Tokyo. I hold a BFA in Graphic Design from Tama Art University in Japan.
After graduating, I worked at an advertising agency in Tokyo as an art director, where I led a wide range of projects including branding, print, UI/UX design, event promotion, and product design for various clients. In parallel, I have also worked as a freelance art director, developing brand concepts from the ground up and defining and enhancing each brand’s unique value and identity.
I place importance on shaping and blending distinct cultural scenes and subcultures, using design as a way to generate new perspectives and sensibilities.
Currently, I am pursuing a Master of Science in Packaging and Identities at Pratt Institute. Beyond branding, I enjoy exploring three-dimensional design—from concept ideation to structural development, sketching, prototyping, and rendering.
By combining the strategic thinking, creative rigor, and multidisciplinary experience I developed over five years as an art director at an advertising agency with my current exploration of tangible, three-dimensional design, I strive to create work that is uniquely my own.
